When so-called educated people are clueless...

A conversation between my cute-mate and the lady she is working with...
cube mate: So Bruce tried to convince me to go to a NSBE meeting when he was here.
her co-worker: Who are those the gays?
cube mate: No, the Society for African American Engineers.

-- Now I know I'm not a genius, but NSBE stands for the National Society of Black Engineers NSBE is obviously an acronym, and what in there could possibly make someone come up with "the gays." I just don't get it. --

A conversation between the head volleyball coach and the JV volleyball coach...
head coach: When something needs to be done, you are the first person to step up and do it.
jv coach: Isn't that what I'm supposed to do? I don't understand what the problem is.
head coach: I think it confuses the girls on whose in charge.

-- I know at my job, if something needs to be done, and I recognize it, and get it done, without having to be told to do it, I get praised. I just can't fathom what the problem is with stepping up and getting something done. She is by far one the dumbest people I know. --

Someone I know, I won't include how I know them, made a grocery list. And spelled 'flour' that you cook with, flower, it was funny to me. Then when I told said person, they tried to blame it on me, good thing we don't have the same hand writing.

A Day of Remembrance...

I recall getting ready for class and listening to the news, I heard the reporter say, "A plane just crashed into the world trade center." I thought to myself, I heard that wrong, she didn't say what I thought she said. Then I heard, another plane, crashed into the other twin tower. I was in the bathroom like what are they talking about. So I made my way to my room to see exactly what they were raving about and I couldn't believe my eyes. They were showing clips, of an airplane, flying through the world trade center. I was shocked to say the least. I'm thinking for sure they are going to cancel class today, but I went anyway, just to be sure. The news was on all of the TVs in the commons, continuously showing the clips. It seemed unreal to me. So I get to my math class, it's about half full, my teacher gives some lame speech about it being ok to be concerned, but that we need to focus in class. Great Dr. Rader, we appreciate that!

So after class, I stop in the commons again, and I just can't believe my eyes. There are attacks on our country and here I am, helpless. I let my mom talk me into paying a little over 4 dollars a gallon for gas. I kept newspapers from the days that followed. I remember thinking, this is actually history in the making. Right before my eyes.

The painted room...

So, I painted my bathroom this weekend. It turned out decent, I made a couple of boo-boos, so I need to get some touch-up paint. I like it for the most part though. I need to purchases a picture to put on the wall, and some decorative towels, after I do that, I'll move on to another room, probably my bedroom. I'm excited about painting the rest of my house!! I want to have a nice, cozy, decorated house, not something that just looks thrown together.

I also went to the movies to see Rush Hour 3 this weekend. That movie was hilarious. I laughed so hard that I cried a couple of times.

I told my mom about J^2, she was more optimistic about the relationship than I find myself being sometimes, which is good. She wants to meet him when he comes. I think that's just her being nosey, but hey, I'm down.

Will it ever end...

So, last week, we decided to have practice early yesterday because varsity had a game. Well, I rush to get there around 4, and no girls are in the gym. The freshmen assistant told me that the head coach told her they changed it and our girls were going to study table. I never said anything about the girls going to study table. In fact, I asked if they had to go, so that we could get out of practice early. It just never ends with her.

Oh well, The Rose Man sent me a text telling me he enjoyed talking to me on Sunday. I replied with the same and told him that I'm looking forward to talking to him again. We'll see how it goes if and when he calls. He works from 3 - 11, so I can appreciate him not calling me when he got off of work last night. I was a little bit disappointed, but I understand. I assume he was being considerate. Unless there is a reason why he couldn't call me. Who knows...

I didn't call J^2 yesterday until after practice, and I think that surprised him. I was thinking, we get into it when I call and you don't answer, so I'm just not going to call when I think you are sleep. Works better for me anyway.

I found out that the reason my internet at home isn't working is because I have a bum modem. So, I'm going to get a new one from LD this evening and try that one. I think I'm going to play volleyball tonight as well.

The Rose Man...

So, I'm going to call the guy that is now showing interest in me the Rose Man...

I've known him since I was about 12 or 13. He's 30. And for the first time in a long time, we actually had a conversation. He actually has goals, and has his stuff together. He's a supervisor at a factory, and he's been there for 10 years. He didn't graduate from college, but he's been working, since he was 20. He said some things to me on Sunday night that really peaked my interest...

"If we start kicking it, I'll be ready to marry you, because you have it together."
"I liked you back in the day, but you were just too young."
"I want to buy a house soon."
"I don't have any children, because I have my own birth control."

Now these are just a few things that I can recall at this moment. But he is definitely on the right track. I never really thought he liked me like that. We were sitting in the club talking, and he bought me a rose. Now, the lady selling them put him on the spot, but he still didn't have to buy it.

The young thing, now doesn't matter, but when were younger, he was like 17 or 18, and I was 13. At the time, I was too young to be having a relationship with him, even though I may not have thought that.

I don't know what may come of it, but I want to find out.

Weekend...

On Friday night, I didn't do too much, I went to Wal-Mart, that was about the highlight of that evening.

On Saturday, I basically spent all day preparing for my first party/set/get-together, whatever the proper term is. And it was supposed to begin at 7, but of course, people didn't really start getting there until around 8. Which was fine with me, because I wasn't ready anyway. I had a great time, and from my observations, everyone else did too. We played games, talked trash, and had some drinks. We had more drinks than we did anything else, but it was good. The view of my place at about 5 a.m. was a sight to see. There were people sleep on the floor, in my closet, and all of the beds had at least 2 people in them. I knew everyone, so it was all good.

On Sunday, I couldn't get up and moving until around 5, and I went by my mom's house. My cousin (from Chicago) and I then went to Biaggi's and had some dessert, their bread pudding is amazing. Then we went back to my place. Later on that night, Heather, Quisha, and I went to a club. While we were there, I saw some guys that lived in the same neighborhood as I when we were growing up. So I basically talked to them all night. One of the guys told me that he used to like me but I was too young. Now he's only 4 years older than me, but when he's in high school and I'm in middle school, it's a little different than when you are grown. So anywho, he said that he is going to start calling me, but we'll see.

Yesterday I cleaned up my place, and ironed some clothes, but that is about it. I just lounged around for the most part. I started watching season 3 of 24. My roommate from college let me borrow is collections of the show. It's pretty good, and I don't have to wait a week just to see what is going to happen next.

All in all, it was a good weekend. Had some good company, got a possible new love interest, got some rest, I can't complain at all!!
