Ah, I turn 30 this year. My life doesn't look like I expected it to at this age, but what can you do. I find that when I reflect, I tend to focus on the things that I want, but don't have. A husband, children, great savings, a job I love, or even like for that matter. No doubt thinking like this puts me in a drab mood. So, I'm going to write out why I don't have these things, maybe it will make me feel better.
1. A husband - Well, who wants to be married for the sake of being married??? Not me. When I turned 25, I can recall thinking that I would start settling because I was worried that I would never meet anyone that would want to marry me. Totally out of character thought for me, but it entered my mind. Instead, I seen myself being even more critical. Maybe it was because I knew what I wanted. Maybe it was because I was realistic about the things I could and could not deal with in a mate. Whatever the case, I am actually grateful that I am not married, because thinking back to my past relationships, none of those guys fit the bill. Thank the Lord for hindsight.
2. Children - Although I believe I could be a decent single mother, the fact of the matter is, I don't want to be one. I'm certain that I cannot imagine having an infant alone. I know that I am not well rounded enough to instill all of the values that a child would need. At this point in my life, I would love to have a child, the fact is, raising a child alone is hard work. Probably one of the hardest things a woman could ever do. So, until #1 happens, I would rather wait on #2.
3. Great Savings - Well, I have a good credit score, but savings, is just embarrassing. While I am on the track to have enough money to start saving significantly, before now, any money that didn't go towards bills, was spent long before my next paycheck. Be it on food, clothes, traveling, entertainment, you name it. I had convinced myself that if I made more money, I would be able to save. Turns out, the more I made, the less I saved, the more I spent. I realized that my attitude about money had to change, or I would be in a rat race for the rest of my life. So, I'm glad to say, that I have learned a great lesson, and I am on my way to making great financial decisions. Until then, I am paying off my twenties so that I can save my thirties.
4. A job I love - Ahhh, I don't know what I want to be when I grow up. I get frustrated even thinking about it, because I have no idea what it is that I can do to make money, that I would love. Maybe I should take one of those quizzes that you take in high school. One thing is for sure just because you get good grades in math and science does not mean that you should be an engineer, tell your children people.
Reflection is a great thing, now what am I going to do about #4????

Push-It
I've been going to a core fusion class at the gym, well, by I've been going, I mean I've been 3 times. But anyway, the first day, was challenging, but a good workout. The second day was harder, but still motivating. Last night, was killer. I was tired afterward, but today, I am exhausted. Like, I can barely keep my eyes open, and my legs feel like they are going to give out on me at any moment. I know I sound like a punk, but let me tell you what we did:
50 - 40 - 30 - 20 - 10 - Jumping Jacks and crunches (without stopping)
100 squats (without stopping)
Plank while counting down from 100
100 calf raises
75 reverse crunches
50 step out lunges
Just typing out has made me even more tired.
The fact that I finished this class, and I'm exhausted, and sore, but I finished. I've learned that I definitely don't push myself hard enough. I will be going back on Thursday!!!!

Things that make you go hmmm...
So, I've been reading about what I suppose everyone is reading about today, the death of a terrorist. I'm surprised at how many people have negative thoughts about it. I guess I'm just curious what peoples expectations were. Did they think the military personnel would never find him? Did they think he would be taken peacefully?

Weekend!!!
Weekends are absolutely too short. I think that at least a few times a week, and I say it a couple times too...
For some reason, I've been tired today, like I could have slept ALL day. My family went out to eat for my step dads birthday though, so that wasn't possible.
I got a shellac manicure, and I love it. So, I said goodbye to my month old acrylic nails!!! I got a pedicure too!
We (La and I) went to see Fast Five, it was really good!!! Probably my favorite of the Fast and the Furious movies...
I have pictures to share!!!
Poetry bought me flowers :-)!!!
My cousin, my sister, OSU fan, and I!!! We went to the spring game last weekend. My sisters soon to be stepson plays for them.
Fun times with La!!!

- I cannot lose weight by simply working out, eating right is a must...

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah
I've been neglecting blogging. Not intentionally though, I guess I'll explain. From last Saturday - Tuesday, I was having back spasms, and seriously out of commission. I didn't do anything. I didn't go to work, nothing, I ate, and slept!
So, I took all of last week off from working out. Back spasms are one of the only pains that I feel like bring me to my knees, and I didn't want to chance not fully recovering, so I took a break. Fast forward to this week, I ran yesterday for the first time in over a week, it was painful, but I finished. Not literally painful, just tough. I'm ready to get back with the program though!!
I am kind of upset with myself, but I'm not giving myself too hard of a time. I KNOW that I need to eat better in order to lose weight. Yet, I won't do what I know I need to do. I've made small changes, and I'm happy with them, but if I want to see any results in anything other than a snails pace, I have to make some big changes to my diet. I don't get enough vegetables, I eat entirely too many carbs, and I don't cook enough. I don't have a plan as of right now, but I'm seriously thinking about what I want to do about it. I'm weighing my options so to speak.
I think I'm done with week goals. They aren't motivating me anymore. On another note, I am proud that I have NOT used a credit card this year. I guess that's not completely true, I've used a couple of cards to get discounts, but I have paid both of them off right away and didn't get charged any interest. So, I adapted the attitude that if I can't pay cash for it, then I'm not getting it. I have made strides in getting out of debt. So all in all, this has been a good year thus far. Now if I can get my eating on point, I'll be golden!!!

Week 14 Goals
Recap of last week:
1. Workout 5 times. And, get my 3 weight lifting sessions in. I've been doing both, but last week, I only lifted weights once. I need all 3 sessions. - FAIL - I worked out 3 times, and lifted weights twice...I'm going to do better this week, no excuses!! And, La and I decided that if we stick to our goals this week, we will treat ourselves to lunch on Saturday. Not that I don't treat myself regularly, but it's something to look forward to!
2. Drink 8 cups of water a day. - 'Sigh' - I have not been tracking, drinking more water, but I know I'm not getting 64 ounces.
3. COOK.PASS FAIL - Sort of - as I recall last week, I didn't eat out for dinner during the week, but I didn't necessarily cook all that much either. I did good the first half of the week, but on Thursday, it was downhill. I went to Panera on Thursday, Olive Garden on Friday, Chinese on Saturday. Aghhh, I have to do better!
4. No credit cards. This will be a tight week, I cannot allow myself to turn to cc's for a break. I have enough food at home to eat off of all week. I don't need gas. I have no excuse! - PASS - I have to say, I am shining with the no credit card use! I will admit, I used my Ma.cy's card to buy my mother a Birthday gift, but, I'm going to pay that purchase off on Friday. I used it to save 15%, and as long as I pay it off without having to pay any interest, I'm happy with that!!!
Goals for this week:
1. Pay off Ma.cy's (see #4 above!!)
2. Drink 8 cups of water.
3. Complete Week 5 of Couch to 5k. There is a 20 minute run this week, that I attempted on the treadmill yesterday, it did not go well, so I'm going to attempt again outside, I can do it!!!
4. No eating out (except lunch on Saturday with La, see #1 above!)
5. Count calories (I've tried making better decisions, not good enough, I need to count calories)
